Objectives of the survey:
• to assess the validity of the current content against new developments in industry
and define the technical content of PAS 55; and
• measure the overall value of the specification to the user community.
PAS 55 for the optimal management of physical infrastructure assets was originally published in April 2004, in two parts:
• Part 1 of PAS 55 specifies the requirements for an asset management system for
physical infrastructure;
• Part 2 provides guidelines for the application of PAS 55 Part 1.
PAS 55 was developed in conjunction with organizations from across a range of industry sectors. PAS 55 has been well received both within the UK and internationally as a valuable guideline for the whole life management of infrastructure assets, and benchmark of good practice against which to demonstrate compliance.
As part of the review of PAS 55, a questionnaire has been prepared by the Institute of Asset Management and BSI British Standards to systematically gather information on:
• the value of PAS 55 to the community of users across industry;
• the validity of the technical content of the PAS, in light of usage by industry, and
relevant developments in asset management.
The questionnaire also seeks views and comments on amendments to further improve PAS 55.
Deadline for your response to this questionnaire is before or no later than 31 October 2007.
NB: Individual organization-specific responses to this survey, involving quantitative information, will be kept strictly confidential. Any qualitative comments provided by individual respondents which are subsequently noted in a report on the survey will not identify the source.
