coverElectrical plugs and wiring and world electricity supplies. 2nd edition

The indispensable guide and reference source for electrical plugs, wiring and electricity supplies worldwide.

This second edition has been compiled by BSI British Standards’ technical specialists. It provides up-to-date information on electrical plugs, wiring and electricity supplies for over 110 countries, spanning Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Pacific Rim. An invaluable resource for any manufacturer, exporter or supplier of electrical goods and services, this international survey comes in two main parts.

The first part deals with plugs and wiring for use with mains-powered household and similar equipment, operating up to 250V a.c. single phase, with a maximum current rating of 20A. For most of the countries, individual country surveys contain information on plugs, mains cables, sockets for lamps (bulbs) and building wiring codes. In addition, the book contains a collection of diagrams that illustrate the style of plug used in each country as well as providing the main dimensions. The country pages also indicate which standards and regulations may be applicable to plugs, and the certification requirements and test bodies.

The second part provides useful comparative tables of world electricity supplies, voltages and frequencies. All domestic, commercial and industrial supplies are included, with some distribution voltages. Both line voltages and phase voltages are given when identifying the circuit diagram of the supply source connections. Supplementary notes provide additional information.
