As part of a regional programme set the EC-ASEAN Economic Cooperation Programme on standards, BSI was asked by the government of Vietnam to provide technical assistance in order to improve the quality of services, and provide training courses on quality standards for the tourism sector. Thirty tourism authority representatives from the national standard agency and representatives from hotel professionals' organizations were trained on the following subjects:
- concept of the standard
- component of the standard
- application procedure
- accreditation and conformity assessment.
