To meet the future demands of operating in the EU single market, Romania asked BSI to develop the functions of its national standards body and support the development of the Romanian standards body (ASRO).
The majority of activity was in supporting the development of human resources management. Supplementing this was analysis of training needs and the provision of training in the following areas:
- implementation of an effective process for handling the information to and from CEN, CENELEC, ISO, IEC and ETSI
- training for electronic voting
- increasing awareness among staff of the benefits of the use of databases
- upgrade the capacity to participate in the exchange information system within the WTO GATT agreement
- promotion of standardization activities among industry and other related organizations
- increasing the capacity to transfer information to Romanian society and bring closer the standardization activities and its benefits to the whole of the society
- increasing the effectiveness of work dedicated to the standardization procedures by designing a quality management system.
