The overall purpose of this programme was to raise awareness among the enterprises and public institutions in the different MEDA countries on quality issues, and to promote European standards and the European approach to quality.
BSI designed and delivered a number of training sessions:
- technical seminar on WTO TBT Agreement (Morocco)
- technical seminar on PED (Belgium)
- technical seminar on ILC and Calibration (Belgium)
- technical seminar on foodstuff legislation (Egypt)
- technical seminar on legal metrology (Egypt)
- training sessions for lead auditors on ISO 9000 (Malta, Israel, Palestine).
In addition, special one-month training on laboratory management was provided for 90 MEDA engineers and laboratory technicians. This comprehensive course covered:
- business quality management system (BQMS)
- European directives
- certification standard BS EN 45011
- European standard IEC/ISO 17025:2005
- inter-laboratory comparison testing
- uncertainty of measurement
- CE marking directives - gas appliances, medical devices, ATEX and LVD.
