In the United Kingdom the Fire Safety Order (FSO) and the Fire (Scotland) Bill became law in October 2006. This completely changes the way fire safety in business premises is treated.
Ultimately, the responsibility for fire safety now falls to the building owner. All building owners will be required to carry out fire risk assessments of their premises and fix any issues the assessment highlights.
Following on from this the newly released CFOA Document now strongly recommends third party certification by a UKAS accredited company, for companies who carry out design, installation, commissioning/handover and maintenance of fire detection and alarm systems. This now applies to ALL fire detection systems as of 1st September 2008.
Turn this to your business advantage by gaining a Kitemark licence for Fire Alarm Systems. This gives your the recommended certification and the competitive advantage the distinguished Kitemark symbol brings.
Kitemark certification will reassure your customers that the service you offer is of a consistent high standard and you can advertise the fact by using the Kitemark in your own literature and advertising.
