Recent Standard Amends:

PAS 24-1
In November 2006 PAS 24-1 was amended to include a security hardware and cylinder test that involves an attack on the door furniture followed by an attack on the cylinder.  This has now been further amended to include an attack aimed at breaking the cylinder using an axial load.  This latest amendment was published on 28th February 2007.

In order to give industry time to understand the impact on their products and (where necessary), ensure the appropriate modifications are made – BSI Product Services will operate a transitional period for those companies who need to make any modifications, as detailed below.

Summary of BSI Product Services’ transitional period for PAS 24-1

28th February 2007 – Publication of amendment

1st April, 2007

Tests to be conducted in line with the amended standard.

  • A Pass/Fail assessment will be made against the pre-amended version of the standard.  Failures will require corrective actions within the normal time scales.
  • Failure against the amendment will be reported but corrective actions have a grace period of 4 months.

1st July, 2007

Tests to be conducted in line with the amended standard.

  • A Pass/Fail assessment will be made against the pre-amended version of the standard.  Failures will require corrective actions within the normal time scales.
  • Failure against the amendment will be reported but corrective actions have a grace period of 2 months.

1st September, 2007

Tests to be conducted in line with the amended standard.

  • A Pass/Fail assessment will be made against the pre-amended version of the standard.  Failures will require corrective actions within the normal time scales.
  • A Pass/Fail assessment will be made against the amendment.  Failures will require corrective actions within the normal time scales.
