BSI offers a competitive streamlined assessment service of the Total Metering and Billing System that takes into account relevant aspects of existing BS EN ISO 9000: 2000, BS 7799 and TickIT reducing duplicate Assessments.
BSI will allow the use of the well renowned and respected Kitemark® by compliant Communications Providers applying to BSI.
BSI is able to bring many benefits over and above Metering and Billing Approval to Communications Providers and is able to certify other management systems, for example:
- BS 7799, the Information Security Standard Certification Scheme;
- BS EN ISO 9000: 2000, the Global Quality Management System Certification Scheme;
- TickIT, the Software Quality Management System Certification Scheme; and
- TL 9000, The Telecommunications Industries alternative Standard for Quality Management System Certification.
Outside the Regulatory environment, BSI can provide a Revenue Assurance service to assist you:
- Prepare for and comply with the Metering and Billing Direction;
- Reap the benefits of improved controls; and
- Control activities not within the scope of the Direction such as "Interconnect".
It is understood, because Communications Providers are sufficiently diverse, that the amount of work required to determine compliance varies and an "off the shelf" plan cannot be advertised or offered.
BSI will deliver the Approval service in 4 phases and the timings for each phase are determined by the total assessment and the skills set required to conduct the assessment. These phases are:
- Application
- Pre-assessment
- Assessment and approval
- Approval maintenance
It is expected that the total time taken from initial Application to Approval being granted (phases 1 - 3) will be between 9 and 24 months.
A price indication can be given following a self-assessment by the Communications Provider. This will be confirmed after the Pre-Assessment prior to the Assessment and Approval delivery phases.
